Gas leak causes town centre road closure in Epsom
12:55pm Wednesday 22nd February 2012

A gas leak is causing traffic chaos in Epsom with Hook Road closed for emergency repairs.
Engineers from Southern Gas Networks are currently on site working to repair a gas leak underneath the railway bridge in Hook Road.
Hook Road has been closed at the railway bridge with access only for local residents and shops.
A diversion is in place around the town centre.
Southern Gas Networks were unable to confirm this morning how long this closure will be in place as engineers continue their investigations into the cause of the leak.
A spokesperson for Southern Gas Networks, said: "We currently have emergency engineers out on-site attending to the gas leak. We are sorry for any inconvenience our emergency work may cause but safety is our number one priority and we would ask that the public bear with us while we work hard to repair the leak."
